Karin Kortje, born on 12 August 1980 in Grabouw, Western Cape, South Africa, is a celebrated vocalist best known as the winner of Idols South Africa Season 3 (2005). Raised in a humble background, Karin discovered her passion for music early, singing in her church choir and local events while working on apple farms in her hometown. Her soulful voice and heartfelt performances quickly drew admiration across the nation.
In 2005, she captivated South Africans with her moving renditions throughout Idols SA, ultimately winning the competition with an overwhelming 65% of the final votes.
Her debut single, “I’m So Ready,” became an instant success, showcasing her blend of pop, soul, and R&B influences. The following year, she released her first studio album, Forever and a Day (2006), which achieved gold status and featured notable tracks such as “Forever and a Day,” “Never Never Never,” and “If I Can’t Have You.”
Beyond Idols, Karin continued her musical journey with singles like “Love in the First Degree” (2009) and the inspirational “Discovering” (2011). She has also performed in stage musicals and live concerts nationwide, maintaining her reputation as one of South Africa’s most distinctive voices.
